Tennova Healthcare - Cleveland is Vital to Cleveland and the Ocoee Region

Cleveland, Tennessee (May 2, 2024) – Over the course of 2023, Tennova Healthcare - Cleveland played a vital role helping people get well and live healthier through more than 250,000 patient encounters across its hospital and growing network of physician clinics and other outpatient sites of care.
In 2023, more than 43,000 patients sought care in our Emergency Room. Twenty four hours a day, our staff of skilled clinicians are available to provide care when it matters, regardless of the ability to pay. Our teams have resources to help with medications and support devices when needed. Last year, Tennova Healthcare - Cleveland provided more than $98.7 million in charity and uncompensated care for the community.
“At Tennova Healthcare - Cleveland we pride ourselves in playing a vital role in our community,” said Jarrett Millsaps, FACHE, CEO for Tennova Healthcare - Cleveland. “We seek to define excellence and give hope in all we do, and are as committed as ever to serving our patients with professionalism and integrity.”
Our support of organizations in the community such as American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, The Caring Place, and the United Way underscore our commitment to improving all aspects of life, including social determinants of health.
Care delivered by our cardiac team has been recognized by the Society of Chest Pain Centers for having some of the best outcomes in the region. In 2023, we performed our first TCAR, a minimally invasive procedure to open a narrow carotid artery and clear blockages. For patients experiencing a heart attack, the hospital’s ER door-to-balloon time average is 66.3 minutes, which is better than the 90 minute quality goal. We are accredited as a Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI and Resuscitation through the American College of Cardiology, and earned Acute Stroke Ready Hospital Certification from the Joint Commission.
We opened our second Tennova Urgent Care/Walk-In Clinic, established our community’s only ear, nose, and throat practice, and expanded our neurology services with the addition of a second neurologist and a third neurology nurse practitioner. The number of surgical procedures offered has grown, including a minimally invasive outpatient procedure for prostate cancer. We have also invested in upgrades to our behavioral health unit to provide a more aesthetically pleasing environment for those receiving care.
Civic resources and services are supported by Tennova Healthcare - Cleveland’s tax payments of more than $9.5 million and the payroll of more than $84.7 million ripples across the local economy as employees buy goods and services.
Workforce development remains a priority along with maintaining strong relationships with local nursing programs, like Cleveland State Community College, Jersey College, and Lee University. Investments are being made to help team members achieve their personal and professional goals through assistance with student loan repayments and tuition reimbursement. Offering scholarships to qualified applicants is another example of how we support and encourage future providers.
Because of the commitment and compassion of every member of our team, Tennova Healthcare - Cleveland is able to fill an essential role in our community. We are honored to serve and are extremely proud of our hospital’s $216,000,000 overall community impact in 2023.
